Day Trippin’

By pris2187

I’ve only been to Mt. Bonnell at night. And most of those trips were decided in a spontaneous “out of our element” haze. So, on a lovely day like this I decided to see how different Mt. Bonnell was in the sunlight.

Even though I have made the drive towards Mt. Bonnell plenty of times, during the day I couldn’t help but feel a bit lost. I did enjoy that I was able to see the gorgeous houses in the rich neighborhood a lot more clear in the daytime. When I got there I noticed a big difference immediately- families. Many people were there with their children showing them the views and taking pictures. In all my previous trips, Mt. Bonnell was filled with people my age doing some not so legal things, to say the least.

I was able to see the water of the Lake and see people riding their jet ski’s and big boats while blasting rap music.

Most of all this day trip made me realize just how beautiful and relaxing Austin can be. Once I escape the campus bubble of football and binge-drinking I can take a 15 minute drive to one of the most beautiful places within the city limits.
